ReplyDeleteThought you might want a few suggestions on learning back-walkovers. They are not hard to do, but difficult to do correctly. The progression I would suggest is making sure you have a good bridge first, then work on kicking over from the bridge. After that working on bending back into the bridge would be good, then its a matter of putting it all together.
As single components they are decently easy to learn, but doing it right means bending over into a bridge while standing on one leg so you don't have to stop in the middle, which can be a little challenging.
If you have access to it, we learned them in Gymnastics with essentially a giant foam roller (like 3 or so feet in diameter)
Good luck :D
Thanks, I was just working the kick overs the other day and was planning on a progression almost exactly like what you describe but it's good to have confirmation from someone who knows their shit. My sister (who did some cheer leading/tumbling) also recommended a giant "cheese wheel" shaped mat but I don't foresee myself finding one of them lying on the side of the road anytime soon so I'll have to make do.
