2.5 Hours 1" Line over a FOAM PIT!!!! Mel and I went back to the gymnastics gym to try and tie a line. We ended up rigging from a support for the high bar to the trampoline frame. It wasn't ideal because the trampoline wasn't entirely secure and the line didn't cross the center of the pit so even in the middle of the line we were still too close to the edge to try any flips. I did land my first back bounce though which is pretty remarkable considering I've never tried them before TODAY (took me 8-10 tries).
We met with the owner to talk about using the space on a somewhat regular basis and she was amazing! When she saw our setup and realized it was not ideal she suggested the possibility of installing a cleat in the wall or drilling a bolt in the floor for us to tie to. She is even offering to let us use the gym for free (or possibly manual labor)! The only hitch in all of this is we might have to pay for insurance which would be $50 per year.
Everyone who was at the gym tried the line which included two 10 year old gymnasts, a rock climbing instructor, a coach, and a badass (no other information available on this guy). Most impressive were definitely the 10 year olds who were able to walk the line after 10-15 minutes. They were all really chill and I definitely hope this works out so I get to hang out and slackline with them again.
